Pic above:  I called this the 'Leicester Square' of Beijing Lu. 

Beijing Lu is just about 5 - 10 mins stroll from Hotel Canton where we stayed.  Lots of shops but they start business at around 1000 - 1100 hrs.  We were a bit early and the street was relatively quiet by the time we reached there in the early morning.
The uniqueness of Beijing Lu is that it consists of the 'old' and 'new' as you can see from the pics above.  Items are sold at reasonable prices and if you're good at haggling for cut-throat discounts, then welcome to Guangzhou.
