On the 2nd day in Bali, we set out for Batubulan where the Barong Dance was to be performed at 0930 hrs sharp. Watched it 2 years ago but this time, there's a bit of change in the plot.
From Batubulan, we then proceeded to Besakih where the largest temple (or locally known as Pura) can be found on the island of Bali. It was too bad that the weather did not do any favour at all to us. It rained quite heavily and we had to 'loan' umbrellas - one for 5,000 rupiah (less than a S$1.00) to avoid getting drenched in the rain.
Temple in Besakih.
From Besakih, we then set off for Ubud (just for sight-seeing); didn't go down from the car as it was raining. At the same time, entering Ubud was a nightmare. Macet, macet, macet... In English, jammed, jammed, jammed. Traffic stood at a standstill for a while, not even crawling at a snail's pace. It was the week when throngs of tourists flocked to Bali (for Christmas and year-end holidays).
When at last our driver managed to get through the traffic jam, we stopped for a short while at one of the bistro in Ubud to fill our tummy. I had pistachio and butterscotch gelato (my first round - pic above). Didn't get enough of the first 2 scoops, I then ordered another 2 scoops of the same flavour (pistachio). Pic below.
Hubby's dessert. His meal was chicken nugget and french fries (if I'm not mistaken). |
That's our daughter's dessert; she had spring chicken for her meal. Our table full of food. |
From Ubud, we then returned to Batubulan for the Kecak Dance performance. |
